Favored Life in High Bridge, New Jersey, is hosting an 8-week summer Prenatal Series intended to help couples mentally and emotionally prepare for labor, delivery and the postpartum months.

When drafting the program, Favored Life owner Rachael McKee asked local moms what they wished they had known going into their first childbirth experience: which information was valued; which information was overrated; what was missing?

Now in its second run, the summer Prenatal Series will bring to the studio local experts who have developed targeted talks on communication, goal setting, mental preparedness, breastfeeding, prenatal care, postpartum care, postpartum disorders and caring for an infant.

Pregnant moms and dads-to-be are welcome to attend; couples who are preparing to conceive are also invited. Conversations with the experts - this is not a series of lectures - will take place Monday evenings between 6:30 and 7:45 from July 9 through August 27. No questions are off limits! In addition to the conversations, prenatal yoga classes are offered Sunday mornings, Tuesday evenings (via the Mindfulness Movements class) and Thursday mornings.

Dr. Elizabeth Pearce, PsyD, is a clinical psychologist, former doula and mother of three. Her expertise in mental preparedness coupled with her experience as a doula make an incredible combination when speaking to women about the importance of being mentally prepared for labor, delivery and the fourth trimester.

Dr. Jodi Dinnerman is a family wellness chiropractor with a serious love for kids. She works with patients of all ages and will speak with members of the prenatal series on body movements that may enhance and optimize birth fitness, things to think about while laboring and how chiropractic care can benefit mothers and infants.

Tracy Spiaggia is an integrative health coach who encourages others to live healthier lifestyles. She will present participants with tools to prepare now for the new life stages ahead: identifying personality traits, setting goals, intentional communication, managing chaos in the home, meal planning and preparation as well as the importance of self-care and accountability.

Alyssa Reaves is an accredited La Leche League leader who will speak to participants about all things breastfeeding. La Leche League is a volunteer-led organization providing support through information, education and encouragement.

Jean Jamele, MSN, RN, and a board-certified lactation consultant, will speak to what women can expect during pregnancy, answering questions and debunking myths. The director of perinatal and parenting/childbirth education at Hunterdon Medical Center will also explain the fourth trimester, how to manage the early weeks at home and the importance of infant cues.
